The Journey...

How It Started...

I have always been intrigued by and felt close to nature ever since I was a child.  Whenever I would lay about in our garden in Mechelen (my home town in Belgium), staring at the sky with the clouds & birds moving erratically about or looking at the trees, plants & bushes with their captivatingly weird populations of different insects and butterflies, it always made me feel calm & at peace and somehow seemingly content with what life on Earth was offering me...  It was all amazingly fascinating to observe and as a child I could be nothing but in awe of it all.

Having been respectful of nature since my childhood, I became over the years, like so many people around our planet, more and more aware and distraught about what humanity was doing to life on Earth.  Whilst being fully aware of the limitations of a single person with very limited resources to ‘do something about it’ the idea of ‘ecomart’ (a market place for eco-friendly products) was born in 1990 (yes a long time ago...)

The Initial Vision...

It was at the early stages of computers becoming more commonly used and soon the world was to open up with the advent of the ‘World Wide Web’, for which I was completely over the moon as I realized that potentially we could use this new medium to reach people all over the planet, allowing us to bundle our limited resources and become a powerful ‘force-for-change’, online.

Little did I know or realise at the time that nothing is as fast or simple as it first appears to be when it comes to technology and its widespread adaptation.  Besides the ignorance & actual dismissal of the clear signs of the ecological disaster which was moving fast towards us, the technology & computer integration into society as a whole was definitely not there and wouldn’t be ready for our needs for many years to come.

The Road Ahead is Bright...

Fast-forward to 2022 – having now reached the point where technology is available cost-effectively to most, and with human environmental awareness established globally, the time has now come for ‘ecomart.global’, which is ready for lift-off!

‘ecomart.global’ is ‘the’ online market place for individuals & businesses of all types, who are engaging in eco-friendly & socially conscious business activities.  We aim to make it easy for consumers to find all these creative brands on one platform.
